Howdy fromThe Southland!!

Hi everybody... Anders here- writing to you from lovely Columbia, South Carolina. its a beautiful day. we just played a fun afternoon show outside at USC and have a day off before tour continues on.

Things have been going well. The music has been off the hook recently... in the pocket, so to speak. we're all smelling what each other are stepping in, in a figurative sense.. of course.

The band pulled a good prank on me the other day after the BrewGrass festival in Asheville, so i figured i should write it up here to honor them. a true favorite of mine- the old classic birthday prank, executed perfectly in every... i felt like a proud father.

I'll paint the picture for you. there i am, finishing my fajitas or something at some crappy chain restaurant (it was near the hotel, eh?). I've had a couple beers (it was a brewgrass festival and we finished our set around 6:00). All of the sudden i hear LOTS of loud rhythmic clapping from behind me. "wow, its somebody's birthday.. poor fool", i think to myself. its getting closer. we are all clapping along. Next thing i know 10 Flingers employees with all their pieces of flare are surrounding me singing some mutated version of Happy Birthday. i stop clapping and raise my arms high in the air as they put my complimentary birthday cake ice cream in front of me. the rest of the guys are crying from laughing so hard at me. i am on the verge of laugh-tears to. the employees all wish me happy birthday and leave. It was truly perfectly executed on the band's part. apparently they decided on it all the way back in the hotel. i've been making up fake birthdays on stage for awhile now and payback was truly a bitch. We all laughed for about five minutes straight, a bit drunk, delirious from the road and happy. Good Times!!!

thats all for now. we'll see you on the road sometime soon... until then: happy birthday, y'all.
Cheers, Anders

p.s.-fun fact of the day: did you know that those chain restaurants have to makeup their own birthday song because the actual "Happy Birthday" song is copyrighted material? (the guy who wrote it must have the same lawyers as Metallica and Prince, i think) there... now you learned something in this blog (besides the fact that gsbg has a lot of fun on the road)
