Hey y'all! Anders here... blogging it up for you.
We just got back from DelFest. What an amazing event! Most all of our favorite bands were there, Del Yonder, RRE, Cornmeal... the list could go on for ever. We played a bunch of sets and pretty much crushed it. The tape of one of them just surfaced. Its a nice audience recording... check it out here: (copy and paste into your browser and you can stream it or download it) ----> http://www.archive.org/details/gsbg2010-05-29.mk41v.m222.um900.v3.flac24
We get to be apart of so many great festivals this year and i'm once again absurdly thankful for that. Beyond getting to play for great music loving crowds, we actually get to see other bands, which always leads to new creativity for GSBG. We also get to actually slow down, step out of the van for more than 6 hours and just hang out! It sounds stupid, but its a hell of a luxury that we dont get all the time during our travels throughout the year.
I gotta run to rehearsal, but figured i could at least stop by and blog for a minute. Be well, do good work! enjoy listening to the linked show above!

Happy Groundhog's Day.
6 more weeks of winter are coming according to a little varmint... oh well. I guess its good timing, as i am sitting in the airport in Denver (50 degrees out) and about to head back to Kzoo via Chicago (30 degrees out). Its like that little bastard is taunting me with his shadow-seeing prediction.
Weather aside, im psyched to get back to the Midwest and play some shows. there are a bunch of cool ones coming up... i've always dug the Mirimar Theatre in Milwaukee for some reason. It reminds me of the kind of place the Grateful Dead would play.... if it were still 1966. Funky, Old, Weird... All in a good way. One of the first nights i met Greensky was there 3 or 4 years ago. the promoter or the opening band or someone brought a keg backstage as i guess that was easier than trying to fulfill the beer rider of GSBG and The Wayword Sons at the time. We picked a bunch of tunes backstage and got to know each other. good times. keg killed, fyi.
Im also psyched for a two night run at Papa Pete's in Kalamazoo. I've never played there though the band used to all the time back in the day. Im excited to go back to the old school days for a few nights.... No, we will not be crowding around a single mic or anything silly like that! It will be a great chance for all the long time kzoo based fans of the band to see the progress that has been made musically over the last 5 or 6 years. Its not the kind of thing that the band has done around home for a long time. Im thinking there's gonna be a bunch of people having flashbacks. be safe out there!
Well alright... its time to end this blog as i have to get on this plane.
Good talk, folks. thanks for listening to my ramblings. Drop us a line on facebook or twitter or send smoke signals or something.
Keep it Real... or Keep it Reel?
Much Love, Anders |

Hey Friends. Happy New Year to y'all from us!
We just had a rockin' new years eve party at The State Theatre in Kalamazoo again, so thanks to all those that were in attendance. Its such a great way to close out our year.... and what a year its been!
I think we played something like 165 or 175 shows in 2009, which translates to probably 200-some days on the road or so. Im certainly not complaining, though. Its been an amazing year. crowds are growing and growing all over the country (i'm hard pressed to think of a state we weren't in this year) and the MUSIC, which is of course what it is all about, has gotten deeper and deeper by leaps and bounds over the course of 2009.
As far as 2010, expect more of the same: LOTS of shows everywhere. LOTS of great festivals. Bigger and better venues. LOTS of new material... we're doing our part to keep things fresh and exciting for you (aswell as ourselves, of course)
My new year's resolution is to keep this blog updated and make sure that we are in touch with our fans as much as possible, so keep in touch via facebook and twitter and check here for new dates being updated
to finish, a bad haiku:
a new year is here
and greensky shall rock harder
and harder, oh yes
----
yours, ABeck
